SHALIMAR 1859-2019 160th anniversary celebration

I've been interested in genealogy for many years and at present, I'm researching a book which will trace the adventures of the passengers who came to settle in NZ on the SHALIMAR. The ship arrived in Auckland from Liverpool on 23rd December 1859. My mother's father's grandparents were on board and my aim now is to trace the descendants of some of the other passengers and collate their family histories as a celebration, in 2019, of the 160th anniversary of the ship's arrival. If any of your ancestors were passengers on the SHALIMAR in 1859 and you would like to join the Shalimar160 project, I would love to hear from you.

Thames Tennis Club has been in existence since 1905 and has five astro courts. It is an inclusive club, with strong social and competitive league competitions, friendly mid-week tennis and a large group of junior players, many of whom have gone on to the Tennis Waikato Bays Squad.

Meetings are held at Richmond Village Community Centre, 82 Richmond Street, Thames on the first Monday monthly except January at 7:30pm.

I'm interested in living resiliently and have land and like solving some of the problems that come up using more sustainable methods. So far I've built a ram pump to get water to the animals, a keyhole bed to combine my kitchen compost with a garden, a solar water heater and a simple rocket stove. I'm working on making a micro hydro generator using stuff from the Seagull Centre. I'd like to get together with other people to work on things; especially if they have technical skills
