  • Thames is getting bike wise

    2019-04-14 01:30:03

The Thames-Coromandel District Council has gained ACC cycle funding to provide a great opportunity to deliver free cycle skills.

Thames-Coromandel District Council road safety coordinator Ingrid Le Fevre says confidence comes from knowing what to do on the rides you enjoy.

“Last month we successfully ran a cycle skills course in Thames for adults, and with the great feedback, we’re continuing the programme.”

Mayor Sandra Goudie is also pleased to see the cycle skills programme get underway.

”This is just one of our initiatives to support walking and cycling within our communities.

"It's to promote active health, hopefully, see more people on our cycle tracks and Hauraki Rail Trail and out of their cars," says Mayor Sandra.

The upcoming round of the cycle skills course in Thames is free, and it is aimed at adults who are already riding. The course will take place on May 20 and 22 from 9am-12pm.

Participants must be adults (18+ years) capable of riding a bike with reasonable control of direction and speed, and they must have some knowledge of the road code.

There are a limited number of spaces available so please register you interest by emailing your full name, contact number, email
